The normal admission round - children transferring from primary school aged 11

boygirlsmallUnder current legislation, although Highams Park Academy Trust is the admissions authority for the school, all admissions at the normal transfer age of 11 to state funded schools, including Highams Park, must be administered by the Local Authority in which the family resides.

Therefore parents wishing their son/daughter to be admitted to Year 7 at Highams Park School in September must complete the local authority single application form naming Highams Park School as one of their preferred choices. The form is available from your Local Authority (assumed to be London Borough of Waltham Forest for the majority).

To gain a place at Highams Park School you must complete and return the single application form to the Local Authority (assumed to be London Borough of Waltham Forest for the majority) and not directly to the school.

If you do apply for a place in the school, you will also need to complete and return to the school the Highams Park Supplementary Information Form (SIF). This is available from the School Prospectus and Admissions section of our downloads page, our school office, or the Waltham Forest Admissions service.

If you are thinking about applying for a place at Highams Park for your child please read our School Prospectus and the detailed Admissions Arrangements document in the School Prospectus and Admissions section of our downloads page.

If you have applied  but have not been offered a place and wish to appeal the decision, our Admissions Appeals information can be found on the same page, School Prospectus and Admissions.

Try to have a good look at the other information on this website particularly the pages on School Rules, School Uniform and the Home-School agreement so you fully understand our ethos and the expectations we have for pupils applying for a place in Highams Park School.

Please be aware that the school is usually very popular and heavily oversubscribed. The following figures for admission to Year 7 last year illustrate this (source of information - Waltham Forest Secondary Admissions booklet called "Starting Secondary School").

2018 September Year 7 Intake - allocations as of 1st March 2018

To gain a place at Highams Park School in the normal admission round for a year 7 place you must complete and return the single application form to the Local Authority (assumed to be London Borough of Waltham Forest for the majority) and not directly to the school. If you live in another Local Authority you can still apply for a place in Highams Park school by simply naming the school as one of your preferences on that Local Authority's single application form.

  • As an Academy the admissions authority for Highams Park School is the Highams Park Academy Trust (the Governing Board of the School), not the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The Academy Trust officially admit children to the school NOT the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Waltham Forest are required by the law to administer the process for children transferring from primary to secondary school.
