Girls celebrating their successes6th Formers excel again

6th Form students at Highams Park have produced some outstanding results again in 2017 and are moving on to a huge variety of university courses and apprenticeships. 71% of the A2 grades awarded were at C or above and this year sees a new school record for the percentage of A*-B grades.

Seven of our students achieved at least 3 A* and A grades, with our A* grades shared out among 15 of our top performing students.

With the achievements of our girls taking centre stage last year, pride of place in this cohort goes to our outgoing Head Boy, Leo Cordery-Smith, who achieved 3 A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics and goes on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol.

Continuing our trend of success in the fields of Maths and Science, Jack Franklin’s hugely impressive A*A*AA has given him a place at the University of Durham to study Physics and Sam Sheppard is pursuing his passion for Mathematics in the USA having won a place at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania after gaining A*A*A in his A levels.

William Azubuike, who attended Frederick Bremer school before joining Highams Park, is awaiting confirmation of his place at the University of Cambridge to read Engineering having come out with A*AA in his three subjects.

Jade Kayran fulfils a lifelong ambition to enter Medical School at UCL having achieved A*AB in her A levels and Rajan Pal, with AAA, plans to take a gap year before applying to medical school next academic year.

Our students have also met with success in other academic fields, notably Scarlett Fox whose A*AA takes her to Edinburgh to embark upon a course of Arabic and Economics.

Millie Mason gained A*AB in Psychology, Biology and English Literature respectively and moves on to study Biological Sciences at Southampton.

Thays Nascimento takes her flair for languages to Queen Mary University of London to study French and Hispanic Studies after finishing with A*ABC in an impressive set of four A-levels.

Both Alfie Dee, another former Frederick Bremer student, and Lizzy Sandeman will study Geography having gained A*AA and AAA respectively.

Students continued the school’s impressive track record in vocational qualifications, with eleven students, out of a cohort of 21, achieving D*D* in their BTEC Business Diploma.

Indeed, Daniaal Latif achieved Distinction* Distinction* in both his Business and his IT Networking BTEC courses and is taking a gap year before applying to university. Of the 70 BTEC grades awarded to our students this year, 39 of them were graded Distinction*, which marks a stunning achievement for our students.
