A lev 2018 01Highams Park 6th Formers achieve excellence once again

The 2018 A-level results show 6th Form students at Highams Park have gained superb results in the new suite of A-levels and are looking forward to taking their next steps at university or in apprenticeships.

71% of the A-level grades awarded were at C or above which represents another successful year and is just reward for all the hard work invested by students and their staff.

A lev 2018 19The outstanding performer this year is Sebastiano Bartolotta, who achieved 3 A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, matching the achievements of Leo Cordery-Smith last year. Seb is looking forward to studying Engineering at the University of Bath.

Eden Coleman’s excellent A*A*A in the same subjects have won him a place to study Mathematics at the University of Warwick and further reinforce the strength of STEM provision at Highams Park 6th Form.

A lev 2018 21Superb results stretched across many other subjects as well, with Sydnie Naylor gaining A*A*A in Psychology, Sociology and Media Studies, which allows her to move on to study Psychology at the University of Sheffield.

There were further A* grades for Rawdhat Juma in Art, Megan Beswick in Psychology and Isabelle Heales in Sociology, while Alex Oldroyd impressed with his range of qualifications, achieving AAA in Art, Economics and Maths. Alex is heading to the University of Bristol to study Economics.

A lev 2018 10There were further successes in a range of academic disciplines. Stefan Keeley, Adam Kelly, Olivia King and Daniel Wilshere all achieved AAB across their different subjects. Adam adds his results in Business, Economics and Maths to the Computer Science A level he achieved last year and goes on to study Mathematics at Royal Holloway, which is a fantastic personal achievement. Alongside her 3 A levels, Olivia also achieved a B in her Extended Project Qualification and takes her talents to the University of Southampton to study Music. Further performances worthy of note are Callum Sturgeon’s AAC in Biology, Geography and Chemistry respectively, which will take him into a university course in Biology, and the determination and resilience shown by Megan Treviss to achieve ABB in Psychology, History and Politics.

A lev 2018 15Students continued the school’s impressive track record in vocational qualifications, with our BTECs once again the source of excellent results for students. Jacob Coy, Skye Macdonald (who also achieved an A in Computer Science) and James Smith all achieved D*D* on their IT Networking BTEC. Of the 80 BTEC grades awarded to our students this year, an impressive 63% of them were awarded a Distinction or Higher. which marks a stunning achievement for our students.

Phil Principal Dec 15 05 reducedThe Principal of Highams Park School, Phil Grundy, was full of praise for our students, saying:

“These results confirm the strength we have at Highams Park 6th Form across so many A-level and BTEC subjects. The students have worked incredibly hard for their successes and I would also like to pay tribute to all their teachers who have helped to inspire and support all of the students throughout their education. There are so many stories of success it has been very difficult to identify particular individuals for praise, and I would wish to congratulate each and every student who has invested so much time and effort into their studies over the last seven years at Highams Park.”
