 Salary: Outer London MPS /UPS (currently) £34,514 - £51,179

We are seeking to appoint a talented and inspirational Teacher of Sociology who will have the opportunity to join the Social Science Department in a successful and well-respected school with a large 6th Form.  The ability to teach Psychology and/or Health and Social Care will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will join a well-resourced and vibrant Social Science Department which is housed in its own teaching block with excellent facilities.  This is a great opportunity to develop teaching skills within a friendly, well qualified and organised department which achieves excellent results. Social Sciences subjects have a large uptake at both GCSE and A Level.  This post is suitable for an experienced Teacher or NQT.

The department is effectively run and has one Sociology, two Health and Social Care and one Psychology specialists.  Staff are encouraged to share ideas regularly and there is a supportive atmosphere between members of the department.  The department has its own classrooms, all of which are well equipped, and each room has an interactive whiteboard. Staff are encouraged to use these resources effectively and imaginatively. There is frequent support provided through training and the sharing of good practice.

Sociology A Level follows the AQA specification, GCSE Sociology follows the Eduqas specification, A Level Psychology the AQA specification, and Health and Social Care Level 2 and 3 the Edexel BTEC specifications.

Sociology is an established and popular subject that has gained top quality results in the past few years.  The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to make a real impact with regards to this subject.
