Dear Parents,

As many of you will be aware the Government announced yesterday that the requirement for students to wear face masks whilst in their lessons was no longer in force. However, the local guidance that the school has been provided with from Waltham Forest Public Health continues to recommend that face masks continue to be worn in communal areas, including the classrooms.

During this term colleagues at school have worked tirelessly to try and keep face to face learning going, and to date we have been successful in doing so despite several staff needing to isolate due to testing positive. With 54 students and 8 members of staff unable to attend school today due to COVID infection we will at present continue to ask that masks be worn in communal areas and in classrooms. Doing so will help to drive the infection levels lower.

We will keep this matter under constant review and update you accordingly. Hopefully with some good news when we see case numbers drop. We have yesterday received our next delivery of lateral flow tests and form tutors will start distributing these to students in the next few days. Please do continue to test and register the results on the link provided https://testregister.co.uk/login, this remains our very best way of ensuring that none of us unwittingly introduce the virus to others in the school.

Finally a reminder that as a result of this evenings 6th Form Open Evening students will leave school today (Thursday 20th January) at 1.25pm and all students have a slightly later start on Friday morning (21st January), needing to be in their tutor rooms by 9.40am.

Many thanks for your ongoing cooperation.

Regards

Phil Grundy
