PhilI am assuming that the school is known to you in some way, and I hope that you are able to find any additional information that you require as you navigate round this site.  If not, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the details on the Contact Us link.

I hope you find the site easy to navigate and that you can find the information you want without too much trouble. Our website will enable you to learn a great deal about Highams Park School, what we do and how we do it.

The school's legal status is an Academy - an independent state funded school. You can find out more about Academies from the Department of Education's website.

I will use this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about myself, however I would immediately stress that the strength of Highams Park School is in the hard work of a dedicated team of teaching and support staff, and ultimately built upon the ambition and application shown by the community of pupils.

It was with great pride that I began as Principal at Highams Park in January 2016 taking over from the long serving Mr Steve Riches.  The school is not entirely new to me as I had served as part of the schools leadership team for the previous three years.  Prior to moving to Highams Park I had worked as a Deputy Head in the nearby local authorities of Newham and Enfield.

Having attended my local comprehensive school as a pupil in Havering I went on to gain a degree from Liverpool University and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Loughborough University.  My three children now attend the same school that I commenced my education in, and I personally appreciate the contribution that a local school can make to generations of a community.

As I pen this introductory note I have served as a teacher for the last twenty years, and am now a parent of school aged children myself, but I remain unchanged in my commitment to the principles that initially drew me into a career in education.  As a keen sportsman, and whilst a pupil myself, I enjoyed coaching younger pupils, and became hooked by the satisfaction of seeing others develop new skills, knowledge and attributes.

As the Principal of Highams Park School I am in the privileged position of being able to witness, on a daily basis the process of teachers enjoying imparting their love of a subject to the pupils in their care. This is what motivates me in my role as Principal, and I hope encourages you as a pupil, parent, member of staff or the local community to fully contribute to and participate in the life of Highams Park School.

I look forward to working with you, and sharing with you the successes that I know will follow when staff, pupils and parents commit to team work, determination and high aspiration.
