Dear Parents

As you will be aware the Government have recently announced that they will be making the COVID vaccination available for all young people aged 12 – 17.  At Highams Park School we are working with both the local authority and the NHS in order to provide the opportunity for all eligible and consenting students to be able to have this vaccination whilst at school.

I appreciate that the decision as to whether to have the vaccine or not is a personal one, and to be clear no student will be made to have the vaccine. However, as a school we wish to make the vaccine as readily available as possible, in order to try and restrict the spread of the virus.  Thus, enabling students and staff to maintain 100% attendance in school and not encounter any further interruption to their education.

At this point in time I would ask you to respond to the following short survey.  This is simply to help us judge the demand for the COVID vaccination at Highams Park school.  There will be a separate response form to gather your consent and to provide further information, as well as confirming the date of the vaccination.  As you can imagine, planning the delivery of 1600 vaccinations is a very different task to the delivery of 400 vaccinations, if we were for example to only have a 25% uptake.

The Government have currently provided the following resources to help inform students and parents of the process, and there are further updates to these that have been promised.

Please could I ask you to now complete the following Survey by Wednesday 22nd September 2021 so that we can then move forward with our planning.  Please be assured that all of the vaccinations will be delivered by NHS vaccination UK trained staff.  Please also be aware that the COVID vaccination is already available for all students over the age of 16.  Information about how to access these can be found here, it would help to reduce the disruption to the school day if all students over the age of 16 were able to book their vaccination via this community route.

Complete the survey here:-

Covid Vaccination Interest Survey

  1. Name of student.  (Please fill in a separate form for each child if you have more than one child attending the school)
  2. Year and Tutor Group of your child.
  3. Yes, I would be interested in my child having the COVID vaccine at school.
  4. No, I would not be interested in my child having the COVID vaccine at school.
  5. My child has already had the vaccine, so will not require it at school.
  6. My child is over the age of 16 and will book the vaccination at a community site rather than at school.
  7. I am currently undecided and will confirm my intentions when the consent forms are issued.

Yours faithfully
