Dear Parents and Carers

| wanted to write to inform you all that after what will be seven years of serving Highams Park School as Principal, | have recently informed the Trustees of my intention to step down from the post at the end of the Autumn Term in December 2022.

Moving on from Highams Park School will be a significant personal wrench for me, as it is a school and a community that | have come to love during my ten years here. | have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with you and your children and thank you for the support that you have demonstrated during that time. Below, Tracy Penfold, our Chair of Trustees has set out in more detail the steps that she will now oversee in order to find and select the very best candidate to lead the school into the next exciting era. | look forward to supporting them in the process and will of course facilitate a smooth hand over to the new Principal from January 2023.

Clearly, there are seven significant months prior to passing the post on to the selected successor and | shall enjoy working alongside each of you and your children during that time thus ensuring they continue to progress towards their goals and future success. It has been a huge privilege to have been able to lead the school during the last seven years, despite some of the significant challenges that we have collectively faced during the pandemic. As | leave Highams Park School, | have also decided to retire from the teaching profession — in my view there is not another school quite like Highams Park School and so | depart to pursue a career in a different sector. Highams Park School will always have a very special place in my heart as it has been a hugely significant part of my life for the last decade.

Yours faithfully

Mr Phil Grundy
Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

It is with deep regret that the Trust Board has accepted Mr Grundy’s resignation. The past two years have been the most difficult in the school's entire lifetime with the immense responsibility of keeping the students and staff safe under near impossible conditions. We therefore fully appreciate Mr Grundy's decision to leave the teaching profession at this time and we hope that you can join us in thanking him for the commitment he has shown to the school community and the school ethos to lead us through such a difficult time.

We wish Mr Grundy and his family every success for the future as he pursues a career outside the world of education, he will be missed by us all.

The Trust Board is working very hard to secure a new Principal for Highams Park School - one who understands the school ethos and is equipped to continue leading and working with all members of the school community to ensure the school continues to go from strength to strength. We will, of course, keep you updated on our progress with this appointment.

We look forward to an exciting future and building on the progress the school has made to date.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Tracy Penfold
Chair of Trustees
