Positive Cases 23rd June 2021

Dear Parents

As some of you are aware from the individual phone conversations that you have had, we have in this last week experienced the return of several positive COVID cases within the student population.  Frustratingly, but inevitably this has resulted in close contacts of those students needing to commence another period of isolation.  Please find attached the template letter that I am obliged to send out to you from Public Health England but in summary I would ask each of you to discuss with your children the need for continued vigilance with regards to reducing the spread of the virus.

It is clear to see from the data that we receive that there has been a reduction in the frequency with which the home test kits are being used.  Please can I ask you to renew your efforts to test twice weekly and to register the students’ results on the following site.  Our best chance of minimising disruption is to catch and isolate any cases of the virus at the earliest stage.

Additionally, the continued wearing of face masks and use of hand sanitiser will be a great help in reducing the spread of the disease.  Students have in the main shown considerable resilience in doing so despite the rising temperatures.

Whilst we continue to operate an amended school day, in order to keep Year Groups apart on arrival, during lunch time and on dismissal we from Monday 28th June 2021, will move Year 7 back to departing from school at 3.15pm rather than the earlier time of 3.05pm that they have become accustomed to.  At this point Year 10 depart from school via the Beverly Road gate thus keeping the two Year Groups apart.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and proactivity in these matters.

Yours faithfully

Phil Grundy
