Dear Parents

As I write this message the Friday afternoon before a bank holiday it is frustrating to outline the following situation. Despite being promised a new set of testing kits for every student and member of staff for the last two weeks these kits have still not been delivered to the school. We have been in daily contact with the Department for Education with regards to this, who have escalated our situation, but have not been able to resolve it.

It is apparent from the statistics available that the level of the virus continues to reduce here in the UK, but it is important that none of us become complacent to the dangers that still exist and that could escalate if we do not all remain vigilant. The statistics that are also available to us as a school also show that there is a gradual drop in the commitment to administering the twice weekly home testing for all students. Clearly it is impossible for you to complete a test if you don’t have a test kit, hence my frustration at the delayed delivery.

As soon as the kits arrive in school we will distribute them to students, however I think it unlikely that this will occur today. Please could I therefore encourage you to place an order for a test kit to be delivered to your home address. I have just done this myself by following the link below:

There is the possibility that these kits might arrive before the end of the bank holiday weekend, this would mean that students can return to school confident that they are still free from the virus. Thank you for your ongoing support with the home testing, it is so important that we do not become dismissive of the steps we can all take to keep the virus under control. Each family's cooperation with the testing will help to ensure that we continue to be able to keep every child in school. For our Year 11 and 13 students especially, every lesson is so valuable as we continue to gather evidence that will be used to decide their final GCSE and A Level grades.

Have an enjoyable bank holiday, and if at all possible please complete and register your next test result towards the end of the long weekend.
