Dear parents

Covid-19

As you are aware, each time that a positive case of COVID is identified within our school population I am duty bound to circulate the attached letter from NHS UK with a reminder about how we can work together to help prevent the spread of the virus.  As the case came to light over the weekend the school made contact with those students and staff who had been in contact with the positive case during the previous 48 hours and were able to inform them to commence their isolation immediately and thus prevent an unnecessary journey to school this morning.

As well as requesting that everyone reminds themselves of the guidance provided by the NHS in the attached letter  I would also like to take this opportunity to emphasise the following points:

  • If anyone in your household is awaiting results of a COVID test all members of the household should isolate until the results of the test are known.  Recently there have been several instances of a family member being sent for a test by an employer, and because the person being sent for a test still felt in good health and was without symptoms other members of the family continued to attend school.  I would ask that when there is any possibility that a household has COVID, whether that be because someone is going for a test or because someone has the symptoms the household should isolate in order to prevent the spread of the virus.  Certainly from the schools perspective adhering to this  guidance will greatly reduce the interruption to students learning.
  • As far as possible we would ask parents to refrain from attending the school. If this is essential to drop something off we will attempt to deal with the matter via the intercom link in reception.  Please do not be offended by the attempts of the receptionist to restrict access into the entrance of the school.  I am sure that everyone understands the necessity of these steps, if necessary please avoid times with students are arriving or leaving the site.
  • Please take a few minutes to review the attached flow chart that we have prepared.  It attempts to simplify the decisions and actions that need to be taken when there is potential or confirmed COVID case in any family.

By working together we can help to restrict the spread of the virus and help to keep our school open, everyone free from infection and lessons running as normal.

Yours sincerely
