Dear Parents

Ahead of the start of the Summer term I wanted to write to you to confirm some details for the first few days of term.  As I write this letter students from Years 7, 8, 11 and 12 have been coming into school to complete the first of their two lateral flow tests today, Thursday 2nd September.  Can I please encourage as many students as possible from Years 9, 10 and 13 to attend tomorrow, Friday 3rd September to have their first test done.

These tests will continue up until Tuesday 7th September, by which time we hope that all students will have had the opportunity to complete two tests, thus ensuring that they are free from the COVID virus before returning to school.

Years 7 and 12 will return to school on Tuesday 7th September, and should report in full school uniform for their registration period at 8.25am.    Years 9, 10 and 13 will also visit the school on Tuesday 7th September but only to complete their second COVID test.  Please see my earlier correspondence with details of when each Tutor Group should arrive for testing.

On Wednesday 8th September all Year Groups return to school fully, and should all report to their registration period at 8.25am.  As we return to the whole school arriving and departing at the same time, we would like to use all of the three school gates to manage the flow of students on site.  From Wednesday 8th September, please can the following Year Groups arrive and depart by the following entrances on a daily basis:

  • 6th Form – via the 6th Form gate.
  • Years 7, 9 and 11 – via the Main front gate.
  • Years 8 and 10 – via the Beverley Road gate.

On return to school all students will be provided with their own home test kits, and we would ask that students establish a pattern of testing twice a week.  Please submit your results, both positive and negative, via the following https://testregister.co.uk/app.  This site will also lead you onto the NHS site as well.

All of us maintaining regular testing really is the best way in which we can ensure that education at school can continue with the minimum of disruption.

Many thanks for your ongoing support, as we look forward to welcoming you back to school.  If there are any students in Years 8, 11, 7 or 12 who missed taking their test yesterday and would like to do so tomorrow, Friday 3rd September they can arrive at school tomorrow at either 9.30am, 12.30pm or 2.30pm and we will fit them into the process.  Please ensure that you have completed the COVID Testing Consent Form available here before attending.

Yours faithfully

Phil Grundy
