COVID-19
I am sure that the vast majority of you have just watched the Prime Minister's announcement, with regards to the return of the country into a lock down. In the short term, this does not change any plans for this week immediately. Lessons will be delivered online as per the timetable and via Microsoft Office Teams, so please encourage your child to log on at the scheduled time to join their teacher and their class, for their online lesson.
The plans that were being drawn together to commence mass testing ahead of the return to face to face teaching, will be put on hold whilst we consider further guidance from the Government regarding this. Can I thank the 50+ parents who volunteered their services to contribute to this program. It may well be that a similar program is still initiated, but along different timescales.
The only students who should attend school tomorrow are those children of key workers for whom it is still essential that they go to work, or for children in vulnerable circumstances.
I will not at this late hour comment on all manner of longer-term arrangements, that will now need to be considered. These will be addressed at the proper time and with your cooperation. I know I speak for all the staff of Highams Park School, we are desperately sorry for the students, the delay of their return to school and a further period of isolation and lock down is so frustrating and potentially upsetting for them. We will together progress through this latest challenge; we wish your families well.
Please do all you can to stay safe and help keep each other well, until the vaccine can help bring an end to this pandemic.
