Dear Parents

As I write this note the students will be completing their final lessons of this curtailed term.  It has been fantastic to have had them back in school for the last few weeks, and I have been impressed with the sensible and mature approach with which they have returned to face to face teaching after such a long absence.

Praise should go particularly to students in Years 11 and 13 who have in the last three weeks completed a set of Mock Examinations, that will help them prepare for the Summer Assessments that lay ahead.  The focus and commitment to the Mocks has demonstrated just how keen these particular Year Groups have been to get back to their studies at school.  Today, Mr Hyde will be sending to students and parents of Years 11 and 13, further details of their Summer Assessments.

Thank you for your ongoing committment to conduct the home testing, it has already proved helpful to the school as we were able to identify two positive cases at an early stage and has therefore limited the number of staff and students who have needed to isolate.

If everything has worked perfectly, your child should have brought home, two test kits for them to use over the Easter break, therefore ensuring that they are able to return to school on Monday, 19th April 2021, confident that they are free from the virus.  If your family require any more home test kits, please use the link below to place your order for home delivery from GOV.UK.

As society gradually emerges from different restrictions, could I please ask that a specific attempt is made to rectify any outstanding issues with uniform ready for the start of the new term.  I will be asking colleagues to ramp up the checks on correcting school uniform and equipment, at the start of the Summer term to ensure that students are properly dressed and ready to learn.

As you make your final preparations for the Easter weekend, please ensure that you top up on your supply of face masks and hand sanitiser, as well as any eggs!  It is imperative that we all continue to take extra care with the “Hands – Space – Face” guidance in order to keep the spread of the virus to a minimum.  The guidance at present will expect the wearing of masks to continue into the Summer term.

Finally, can I wish you all a pleasant Easter break, I hope that with the easing of restrictions each of you are able to find some time and an opportunity to see friends and family, with whom it has not been possible to see from before Christmas.

Yours faithfully

Phil Grundy
